Here's What We Know About Season 3 of 'The Politician'

Following a hit first season, the second season of The Politician took us from Saint Sebastian High School to New York as Payton Hobart tried to unseat longtime incumbent Dede Standish in the New York State Senate race. There were plenty of petty politics and hidden secrets along the way, but Payton had to decide what kind of politician he was going to be and he tried to succeed without compromising his character.

Many fans have already binged season two, and viewers are now looking towards the future—here’s what we know about season three of The Politician.

Season three will be the final season of The Politician, but it won’t premiere until a few years from now.

Many TV and film productions have been suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, but series c0-creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that even after social distancing is lifted, season three won’t premiere for a while. “I think where Season 2 ends, what I would love to do is take a couple of years off and have Ben Platt get a little bit older for his final race,” Murphy told Collider. He also confirmed that The Politician will end after season three.

The Politician‘s third season will follow Payton as he runs for President.

Murphy had previously explained that each season of the series would feature a different political campaign, and following Payton’s season one run for high school student body president and season two campaign for a seat in the New York State Senate, he’ll be heading to Washington D.C. to run for President of the United States.

Season three of The Politician’s third season will include most of the cast we know and love.

Ben Platt will definitely be back as Payton Hobart, while Zoey Deutch will likely return as his right-hand woman Infinity Jackson. Also expect to see Lucy Boynton as Astrid Sloan, Gwyneth Paltrow as Georgina Hobart, Laura Dreyfuss as McAfee Westbrook, and Rahne Jones as Skye Leighton. Less is known about the possible involvement of Judith Light and Bette Midler, and while Jessica Lange didn’t appear at all in season two, fans want her to return for the final season.
