Aside from posing nude for Women’s Health, the ‘Lizzie McGuire’ star spills in the interview that the older she gets, the more respect and confidence she has for the changes her body went through.
AceShowbiz –Hilary Duff is stepping out of the PG-13 area. Gracing the May/June cover of Women’s Health, the “Lizzie McGuire” star proudly bared all as she stripped down to her birthday suit and showed off her curves.
In the interview she had with the magazine, the “How I Met Your Father” leading star offered naked truth behind her decision going risque for the cover shoot. “I’m proud of my body. I’m proud that it’s produced three children for me,” she spilled, “I’ve gotten to a place of being peaceful with the changes my body has gone through.”
Hilary further elaborated on when she made peace with her body image. “Perhaps after having Banks,” the mother of three divulged, “I didn’t even know if I was going to have the opportunity to have another child. So, being a mom again, maybe.” She noted that after giving birth to her daughter Banks, she started to realize that she was “powerful and talented and smart.”
The former Disney star also expressed that turning 34 was a turning point where she “gained a lot of respect” for her body and how it looked. “It’s taken me all of the places I need to go. It’s helped me build a beautiful family,” she remarked, “I feel like the older I get, the more confident I get in my own skin.”
“And my body’s been many different shapes and sizes and I’m really just fascinated by, one, being a woman,” Hilary added. “And two, all the changes that your body can go through throughout your lifetime.”
Hilary struggled with her body image after being put under the spotlight since a very young age. At the age of 17, she recalled battling an eating disorder due to her line of work. “Because of my career path, I can’t help but be like, ‘I am on camera and actresses are skinny,’ ” she dished to the magazine, “It was horrifying.” However, as she grew up, she began seeking professional help.
Elaborating further on the issue, the 34-year-old touched on the positive impact therapy brings to her mental health. “Therapy helps me a lot. I try to do a Zoom with my therapist at least twice a month, if not more, if I need it,” Hilary explained, “But I think just talking and having the right people around you that can truly listen when you need them to, [and] taking space for yourself.”
Hilary then stated that she has also been committing herself to constant work on herself. “We bust our a** to get our bodies in shape and to look the best we can. We get facials and Botox and our hair done and highlights and brows and lash lifts and all this s**t,” she elaborated. “But I want to work on the inside. That’s the most important part of the system.”
