TV sweetheart Holly Willoughby, 40, shared a boomerang video with her Instagram followers of herself on the set of Midsomer Murders as she films her role on the show.

Holly took to her Instagram page to share the video of herself with the director’s clapperboard.

The blonde TV favourite has a huge grin as she appears with a beautiful garden backdrop while filming her role on the popular show.

Looking elated wearing a pink floral summer dress, and neutral sandals, Holly was all smiles as she mimicked the director’s scene cut in the video.

She captioned the post: "Today is the day… @officialmidsomer…excitement levels off the chart!”

Quite a change from her comfy sofa on the This Morning set, Holly was in a garden setting in keeping with the show’s rural location as she grins for her followers.

The blonde beauty was taken aback when she was offered the role during an interview on This Morning back in March when she and co-presenter Phillip Schofield, 58, were chatting to Midsomer Murder actors Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix.

Phillip was in on the surprise the pair had for Holly as he admitted to an earlier discussion on how to surprise her with the news that she had landed a role on the show.

The telly favourite had to hold back the tears as the Midsomer actors told her ‘we want Holly Willoughby to appear on an episode of Midsomer Murders’.

The pair went on to tell the mum-of-three that ‘their people had been talking to her people’ as she smiled through her hands in disbelief at the news.

Through tear-filled eyes, she described the offer as ‘the best thing to ever happen’.

Being a big fan of Midsomer Murders, Holly screamed ‘yes!’ before describing her acting as ‘terrible’ and suggesting they may want to kill her off quick.
