Harry Judd, 35, has become well known as a mental health advocate after bravely sharing his own struggles in the past. Now, the McFly star has opened up about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry both also sharing their own experiences in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

Back in March, both Prince Harry and Meghan opened up about their mental health struggles in a conversation with Oprah Winfrey.

At the time, Meghan revealed how she had suffered from suicidal thoughts as they both detailed the pressures of being in the Royal Family.

Speaking about this in light of his new mental health campaign, McFly star Harry shared his “sympathy” for the pair.

Opening up about this, he said: “It’s really difficult to navigate.

“I found myself defending them because I think from my side of things the fact is she had mental health struggles.

“The pressure that they’re under and the pressure that she’s under and Harry’s is immense, particularly seeing what his mother went through.”

He added: “I just think, yes you can question the way that they went about talking about it and the platform they used but the fact is if you don’t believe it, you’re essentially just assuming she’s lying.

“And I personally would like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

“I find it highly unlikely that what she said wasn’t true so I just felt nothing but sympathy for them both.”

Harry also added how from experiencing fame himself, he can only imagine the pressures they were under.

He continued: “Many people have such challenging lives and go through such personal torment and illness, and so many horrible things.

“So it’s a hard one to sort of get a perspective on but having experienced a very small level of fame, I cannot imagine what it’s like being a member of the Royal Family.

“The pressure is just immense.”

Harry also spoke a bit about sharing his own mental health journey, which the Strictly Come Dancing star admitted was why he wanted to get involved in a new campaign.

He is working with Simplyhealth and the Mental Health Foundation to get people looking after their mind.

In collaboration, they’ve created an e-book entitled Take A Breath, which will help people to connect with nature.

Speaking about the partnership, Harry explained: “I’ve talked about my experiences in the past.

“I wrote a book about four years ago that talked about my experiences with mental health and fitness and what I found helpful.

“Someone reached out with the campaign and it was just totally in alignment with my thinking and thought process so felt like a really natural partnership.”

Simplyhealth is also working to donate to the Blue Prescribing Project with every download of the book.

This aims to help people’s mental health through hands-on nature-based activities.

Harry Judd has teamed up with Simplyhealth to raise awareness of the mental wellbeing benefits of nature. To inspire the nation to ‘Take a Breath’, they have created a free e-book with ideas to connect with nature. For each download, Simplyhealth will donate £5 to the Mental Health Foundation.
