Kate Middleton steps out for first time in two months as she visits garden centre

Kate Middleton has become used to making appearances over Zoom during the coronavirus pandemic.

But the 38 year old royal has stepped out for the first time in almost two months to visit a garden centre in Norfolk.

The Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William have each visited independent businesses to hear how they have been impacted by coronavirus.

They also spoke to staff members about how they are returning to their new normal now that non-essential shops have been able to reopen in the UK following the ease of lockdown measures.

Mum-of-three Kate visited Fakenham Garden Centre where she met the centre's owners and spoke to the centre's members of staff.

The business, which is run by a family, was closed for seven weeks before they reopened for visitors on Monday.

Kate was told about the new measures which the garden centre has implemented to ensure that their customers are able to visit and shop safely.

She dressed the part for her trip to the garden centre, donning a long sleeved pale blue shirt, with a navy blue Fjällräven body warmer.

The future Queen teamed the look with a pair of black jeans, modelling khaki green Superga trainers on her feet.

Meanwhile, Kate's husband William paid a visit to Smiths the Bakers in Kings Lynn who have been in business for 50 years, but were recently forced to close for 11 weeks.

The Duke spoke to the owners of the bakery along with members of staff about how the coronavirus restrictions have impacted on the family-run business, with 80 per cent of the company's wholesale customers having to close their own operations.

He was told how the business had to furlough a number of staff members and had to adapt its business model during lockdown by operating a delivery service to local residents.

The also began selling a new line of products to meet the demand for baking ingredients such as flour and sugar, with supplies for the ingredients struggling to meet demand during lockdown.

Giovanna Fletcher recently opened up on interviewing Kate to OK! magazine, describing the experience as "surreal".

She said: "I'd been asking her to come on for years, ever since the podcast started. Sitting opposite her, drinking coffee and talking about parenthood was the most amazing experience.

"She's so self-deprecating, warm, engaged – and she listens. She is one spectacular woman. I didn't sleep much the night before.

"It's so weird because you long to interview someone and then, when they say yes, you're like, 'Oh, what do I do now?' But it became less scary when I started planning what I was going to ask because I realised it's just two mums talking, so then I started to calm down."
