Machine Gun Kelly Designed Megan Fox's Engagement Ring to Hurt Her When She Takes It Off

By now, just about the entire world has seen Megan Fox's one-of-a-kind two-stone engagement ring. After news of her engagement to Machine Gun Kelly made headlines, the singer (real name: Colson Baker) sat down with Vogue to explain all the intricacies of the ring, which he designed with Stephen Webster. But Kelly didn't just talk about where the stones were sourced and the quirky-cool magnetic detail, he shared that whenever Fox removes the ring, she's hit with a bit of pain, because, as he goes on to say, "love is pain."

"It's a thoroughbred Colombian emerald, with no treatment. It was just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine," Kelly said. "And the diamond was directly from [designer] Stephen [Webster]."

The most puzzling detail isn't something that most people will see — but it's something that Fox will definitely feel. Beneath the curved band and spotlight-stealing gems, there are thorns.

"The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it's together, it's held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart," Kelly added. "And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts … love is pain."

Webster shared additional insight with Entertainment Tonight, giving gem nerds the down-and-dirty details.

"The two Thorn rings are crafted in 18ct white gold with white colorless diamond pavé, set with a pear-shaped untreated Colombian emerald and a pear-shaped D color, antique-cut diamond on the other," he said.

Before he popped the question, Kelly had told his pals that he knew Fox was The One. Sources close to the pair told ET that he had been planning the engagement for a while and wanted every detail to be perfect.

"MGK has been telling his friends how Megan is his dream girl and he is always trying to make her happy and do romantic things for her. His proposal plan was no exception and he wanted it to be very special," a source said. "The two of them are so ready and excited to continue their journey as a couple and create more memories together."
