Madonna and Kevin Costner became embroiled in a decades-long tiff after an awkward encounter dating back to the 1990s. The Yellowstone star had visited the singer backstage during her Blond Ambition Tour and the meeting was filmed for her 1991 documentary, Truth or Dare.
In a clip, Madonna was mixing with the likes of Olivia Newton-John and Al Pacino when Kevin walked into the room. After exchanging niceties, the actor appeared to offend her when he described the show as “neat”.
The Like A Virgin hitmaker, who would have been around 33 at the time, replied: “Neat? No one has ever described it quite that way.”
After he leaves, Madonna makes a vomiting gesture before snarking: “Neat? Anybody who says my show is neat has to go.”
The encounter stuck with Kevin and 16 years later he admitted he had been left feeling “hurt” and “embarrassed”.

The father-of-seven told the LA Times: “Yeah, I was embarrassed by it and kind of hurt by it. I just went back there because I was asked to go back. And I found the best word that I could. I never called her on it or whatever.”
To Kevin’s surprise, when he took his daughters to one of Madonna’s gigs a decade after the incident, she issued an apology to him while on stage
He told the aforementioned publication: “She did a really beautiful thing… I decided to take my daughters to see her. I just thought this is somebody they should see. I didn’t call anybody for tickets, I just got tickets and we went down…

“And about the third song in, the lights were down, and she said, ‘I want to apologize to someone’. And all of a sudden my face starts to get hot… And she says, ‘I want to apologize to Kevin Costner’.”
The 68-year-old said he “really respected” her gesture. He continued: “A bigger thing came out of some kind of humiliation.
“I never wrote her to say thank you, but I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart, and that meant more to me than you could ever know.”
It comes as Madonna will be returning to the stage with her highly-anticipated Celebration tour.
She will be performing four nights at London’s O2 Arena from Saturday before returning for two more on December 5 and 6.
The Queen of Pop was forced to reschedule the tour after suffering a bacterial infection and needing critical care.
She was discharged from hospital on June 29 and took some time out to recover before returning to rehearsals for the groundbreaking tour.
