Naga Munchetty, 46, has taken to Twitter to send her well wishes to her BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 5 Live co-star Rachel Burden, 46. It comes after the presenter was forced to miss her show on 5 Live this morning due to battling the coronavirus.

Rachel was set to host 5 Live Breakfast with her co-star Patrick Kielty, but she had to pull out of fronting the show because of her ill health.

She was replaced by Scottish TV and radio presenter Laura McGhie.

In view of her 82,000 Twitter followers, Rachel explained: “After 18 months of talking about it, covid has finally caught up with me.

“Currently self medicating in bed with paracetamol and a mini magnum.

@PatricKielty and @LauraMcGhie_ with you in the morning.”

“Look after yourselves. X,” Rachel concluded.

Naga was quick to send a supportive message to Rachel.

The BBC star wrote in view of her 259,000 followers: “Sending love xx.”

Naga was joined by fans who were also keen to wish Rachel well.

One person wrote: “Oh dear … hope you are soon fully recovered Rachel, please take care. Can’t believe that of all times you should have contracted it now! wishing you a speedy and full recovery xx.”

Another added: “It’s awful Rachel isn’t it, you follow the rules, you wear masks when and where you’re supposed to and it catches you when you least expect it x stay safe, hope you and loved ones are all OK.”

A third fan commented: “Oh no:(. Sorry to be reading about this. Hope you’re not feeling too bad and it’s just a mild case?   Take care x.”

BBC Weather presenter Simon King added: “oh no!!  Hope the paracetamol and mini magnum helped you get a good nights sleep.  Get well soon x.”

5 Live host Eleanor Oldroyd penned: “Aargh no – poor you! Rest up and let someone else look after you. Lots of love and get well soon.”

It comes after Naga recently shared her own health struggles with Rachel on air.

Back in March, Naga told Rachel she dislocated her knee minutes before hosting her show on 5 Live.

She made her admission as the pair discussed whether or not they had been more into fitness during lockdown.

Her co-star said she had been “less” fit than she was before, due to suffering from undisclosed injuries.

Sharing her story, Naga chimed in: “Well shall I tell you something that happened to me today? I dislocated my knee a couple of years ago.

“I fell over and dislocated it again – and it’s really embarrassing – this morning right outside the office.”

The BBC star reassured Rachel by saying her knee was “only a bit” sore and that she had pushed it straight back in.
