The stars of The Young and the Restless holds a great deal of talent. Some have made impressive connections over the years. One longstanding cast member happens to have a twin sibling tied to a huge Academy Award-winning film.
‘The Young and the Restless’ star Thad Luckinbill has a twin brother

Fans know Thad Luckinbill as J.T. Hellstrom on The Young and the Restless. He played the character for 20 years off-and-on, starting in 1999. When the actor isn’t appearing in daytime’s No. 1 soap, he’s working alongside his twin brother, Trent Luckinbill.
Trent is 12 minutes younger than Thad and alternates his Hollywood lifestyle with his day job as a Los Angeles, California attorney. Both Luckinbill brothers have acted together. Each appeared in the final episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent in which they played identical twin murder victims.
Thad’s little brother also joined him on the Y&R set in 2005. Trent had a small, uncredited role known as “guy.” That aside, the brothers spend most of their time behind the camera. The result is a few critically-acclaimed projects.

Thad and Trent established the production company, Black Label Media, with producer, Molly Smith, and Rachel Smith. The company has worked with stars Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emily Blunt, and more.
Thad revealed to the Oklahoman he “recruited” Trent for his “financial expertise.”
“So with Trent’s help and the three of us coming together, we sort of had the right equation to go forward and were able to pursue it, were able to raise the funds and start the company, and then we were off to the races,” Thad said.
J.T. might not want his Y&R job back anytime soon and for good reason. Deadline confirmed that the Luckinbill brothers are currently working on the true story of two elite U.S. Navy fighter pilots, Thomas J. Hudner and Jesse L. Brown, during the Korean War, Devotion.
The film stars Glen Powell and is based on the book Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism by Adam Makos. Also forthcoming, Postscript.
“Alcon Entertainment has secured all filmed entertainment rights to Postscript, the recently released follow-up to Cecelia Ahern’s 2004 debut novel P.S. I Love You,” a press release via the Black Label Media website reads. “The Blind Side production company will co-finance and co-produce the feature adaptation along with Black Label Media.”

Also per the brothers’ website, they aim to “finance and produce bold films with commercial appeal.” One look at their projects and that case is clear. With Sicario, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, 12 Strong, Only the Brave, and more, the Luckinbills aren’t messing around when it comes to their producer hats.
One of their most beloved projects won 6 Academy Awards including Best Achievement in Directing for Damien Chazelle and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for Emma Stone. That’s right — the Luckinbill brothers produced the Ryan Gosling hit, La La Land.
Trent studied at the University of Oklahoma and has worked with the Department of Treasury’s Office of Financial Stability, as a lawyer at the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., and in private equity groups. His experience rival’s Thad’s business degree from OU and acting credits.
Together, the brothers have made a mark in Hollywood with no signs of slowing down soon.
