Foreigner revealed on Tuesday that original singer Lou Gramm has pulled out of the group’s “Double Vision: Then & Now” tour as he has been hospitalized due to serious medical issues.
The band tweeted that Gramm was hospitalized at the Unity Hospital at Park Ridge in Rochester, New York, last week with a “severe respiratory infection, dehydration and fatigue.”
Gramm wrote a note to his fans, saying, “I’m very disappointed about not being able to perform at the FOREIGNER Double Vision: Then & Now shows for all the fans. My doctor insists if I pushed myself to perform, I would be in big trouble. So doctor’s orders, I ride the bench. Rock on.”
“We will all miss Lou at our upcoming shows and we join all his family, friends and fans in wishing him a speedy recovery,” guitarist Mick Jones said in a statement.
The “Double Vision: Then & Now” tour will go on with other original members as they join Jones and the current lineup of Foreigner.
After being the band’s frontman from 1976 till he quit in 1990, Gramm rejoined the group a couple of years later and was with them till 2003. He then returned in 2017 for some reunion gigs.
