Oscars 2020: Spike Lee Honors Kobe Bryant, Janelle Monae Is Literally Sparkling on Red Carpet

The cast members of hit South Korean movie ‘Parasite’ also among those who graced the red carpet as Tony Award winner Billy Porter continues to serve looks with a striking gold ensemble.

AceShowbiz -The 92nd annual academy awards is finally here. Taking place on Sunday, February 9 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the biggest night of film folks will see the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) honoring the best movies in 2019. Considering it’s one of the biggest nights in the film industry, it’s only natural to see stars putting effort into looking stunning on the red carpet.

Spike Lee opted to use the occasion to honor late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash alongside his daughter Gianna last month. The “BlacKkKlansman” director arrived in a customized purple suit that had the number 24, which was Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers jersey number, at the front as well as at the back. He completed the look with a matching purple hat.

Also turning heads on the red carpet that night was Janelle Monae, who was literally sparkling in a dazzling “Little Red Riding Hood” inspired gown from Ralph Lauren. The custom ensemble, which was studded with crystals, reportedly took over 600 hours to make. However, that was definitely worth the struggle since the singer looked extra glam in the dress.

Billie Eilish, meanwhile, walked the rec carpet in her signature baggie clothes. The Grammy-winning singer looked incredible in a white oversized Chanel pantsuit. She, who arrived with her brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell, accesorized herself with long black nails, lace fingerless gloves and layered gold necklaces.

The cast members of hit South Korean movie “Parasite” also among those who graced the red carpet. Actress Park Sodam looked amazing in a red gown, with Jang Hyejin opting for a white embezzled dress. Meanwhile, the men were twinning in classic black suits.

Looking soft in pink was Regina King. The “If Beale Street Could Talk” actress sported a powder pink Vercase gown which she paired with Stuart Weitzman shoes. The “Watchmen” star also completed the look with an almost-there pink cheek and slicked-back hair.

Billy Porter, meanwhile, continued to serve looks with a striking gold ensemble. The “Pose” actor looked as if he was some kind of a Greek god as he made a huge entrance in a high-necked golden bodice and a voluminous skirt. As for the shoes, the Tony Award winner chose gold platforms that he wore over a pair of beige fishnets.

The 2020 Academy Awards is currently underway.
