Paloma Faith Denies Gender-Neutral Parenting

The ‘Fall to Grace’ singer clears up rumors suggesting that she’s raising her daughter gender-neutral, claiming her comments about parenting were ‘misunderstood.’

AceShowbizPaloma Faith has insisted she’s not raising her daughter gender neutral and her previous comments about gender identity beliefs were “misunderstood.”

The 38-year-old singer gave birth three years ago to a baby with partner Leyman Lahcine, but only recently revealed she had a girl. She had previously hit headlines after telling the Thomson Reuters Foundation in an interview, “I’m just raising my child to be who they are. I don’t differentiate gender because I don’t believe you should to a young child.”

However, in a new interview, she told the Radio Times that the remarks were taken the wrong way, as she explained, “I was misunderstood – the media reported that I wasn’t dictating gender stereotypes.

“True, I don’t encourage gender rigidity with toys, but really, I was traumatised by the birth and protective of our privacy. I wanted her to develop into herself before the world decided who she was. I felt like a lioness. She makes me look at the world in a way I’ve neglected for a long time.”

Paloma’s admission comes just days after she revealed she and Leyman have been trying for another baby, but haven’t had much success.
