Pearl Jam Earn 14th Top 10 On Billboard’s Album Sales Chart

Pearl Jam earned their 14th Top 10 on Billboard‘s Album Sales Chart, as the band’s MTV Unplugged hit No. 7 on the list dated November 7, soaring from its earlier week position at 37.

The move follows the vinyl reissue of the album and its first ever release on CD and as a digital download album on October 22.

According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, the set sold 12,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 29 (up 286 percent). In the previous week (ending Oct. 22), the album sold 3,000 copies, mostly from sales of the vinyl LP and digital album on Oct. 22.

Sales of MTV Unplugged in the CD format rose to 5,000 copies in the week ending Oct. 29, and Vinyl LP sales were 4,000 copies in the week (up 212 percent from a week earlier), while sales of downloads rose to 3,000, up 76 percent from prior week.

Pearl Jam recorded the seven-track MTV Unplugged on March 16, 1992, for the MTV TV special, broadcast on May 13 that year. The album had its first stand-alone commercial release on Nov. 29, 2019, when it was issued on vinyl for Record Store Day’s Black Friday celebration.

Pearl Jam’s first entry into the Top 10 Sales chart was in August 1992, when their Ten album peaked at No. 2. Earlier this year, their Gigaton debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the chart dated April 11.
