Perry Farrell Reflects On ‘Tragic Relationship’ With David Bowie

Perry Farrell has described his relationship with David Bowie as “tragic” due to some phone and text message mishaps.

In an interview with NME, the Jane’s Addiction frontman shared stories of a series of “tragic” mishaps in which he gave away Bowie’s phone number and email address.

“I had a tragic relationship with David Bowie,” the singer-songwriter told NME. “I kept screwing up as a young man. I would do stupid things like one time I left my cell phone in a cab.”

“The cab driver got a hold of it and started texting him, ‘Yo David, what’s up?’ in my name,” Farrell added. “Then he (Bowie) would be like, ‘Perry, what are you doing?’ This guy was constantly texting him and trying to get hold of him.”

Farrell said the late music legend “wasn’t mad at me, but he was annoyed by me.”

He also recalled another incident in which he gave 200 people access to Bowie’s private email address.
