Pretty Ricky rapper Diamond “Baby Blue” Smith says he’s on the “road to recovery” after being shot during an attempted robbery.
Smith shared a health update on social media Thursday after waking “up out (of) a coma.” The “Love & Hip-Hop: Miami” alum revealed he has to “learn to breathe & walk again” after a bullet traveled through his lungs and lodged in his back.
“Thankyou everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I’m still in ICU but I’m on the road to recovery,” Smith tweeted. “I have a great medical team here at the hospital. God Got Me.”

According to a press release from the Davie Police Department in Florida, an incident happened Monday in the parking lot of a bowling alley involving two victims, one of whom was Smith, Davie Police Department public relations coordinator Sarah Andeara confirmed to USA TODAY.
Police said the two victims were standing outside SpareZ bowling alley when two unknown armed men approached them. Things turned physical over the attempted robbery of a gold chain necklace, and police say the suspects fired shots, striking Smith in the shoulder area.
Smith was taken to a local hospital and was in critical condition, according to police. The suspects left the scene before police arrived.
On Wednesday, “#PrayforBabyBlue” was written in Smith’s bio on Instagram.

Smith is part of the hip-hop group Pretty Ricky consisting of his brother Spectacular Smith, Slick ‘Em and Pleasure P. They churned out 2000s-era hits “Grind With Me,” “Nothing But a Number” and “On The Hotline.”
In 2018, Smith appeared as a supporting cast member on Season 1 of VH1’s “Love & Hip-Hop: Miami” alongside rappers Trina, Trick Daddy, Gunplay and Pretty Ricky group member Pleasure P.
Baby Blue released the single “Jerry Rice”on Wednesday after being hospitalized.
In October the rapper was arrested for allegedly participating in a COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program relief scam along with co-conspirators. According to a Department of Justice press release, the rapper was arrested for wire fraud, bank fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud amounting in $24 million.
Authorities allege Smith bought a $96,000 Ferrari and other luxury items with the fraudulent PPP loans.
