Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took part in an episode of the Teenager Therapy podcast this weekend, and they gave fans some insight into what living in Santa Barbara has been like for their family.
Duchess Meghan expressed her gratitude for having “blue skies and fresh air and green space” at their home, and also revealed that son “Archie loves birds,” which is pretty adorable.
Prince Harry discussed their new home and explained, “We’ve felt incredibly grateful and fortunate to be able to have outdoor space where our son can walk his first steps.” He continued, “It reminds me of how many people are just stacked on top of each other and have been for months after months after months and what that must do to people’s mental health.”
The Sussexes also revealed some of the techniques they’ve been using during lockdown to manage their mental health and wellbeing. Duchess Meghan said, “Journaling is a really powerful thing.” She continued, “It allows me to reflect on where I’ve come from and with that comes a lot of perspective.” Recommending the process to listeners, the duchess continued, “Sometimes when you’re going through something it feels like the biggest thing in the entire world and then you look back at it in a year and yeah it was still big. Meanwhile, Prince Harry opened up about the practice of meditation and how important it is to him. “Meditation is key. I never thought I’d be the person to do that,” he revealed. “Of course, the importance of just taking a moment and creating that time in your day to be able to take a breath and actually just focus on the things that really matter.”
