This Morning host Ruth Langsford took to social media yesterday to document her day and impressed her followers when she came across a “beautiful” sight while out walking her dog Maggie. The 60-year-old presenter, who regularly walks 10,000 steps a day in order to stay fit and healthy, was out with her pet pooch when a concerned fan made an observation and pointed it out on her Instagram post.

Ruth came across a beautiful deer while walking her dog and quickly grabbed her camera phone to record the encounter.

She then shared the footage with her 900,000 Instagram followers.

The ITV star, who is married to her This Morning co-host Eamonn Holmes, captioned the video: “This is why I like walking… you see beautiful things like this young (I think) deer.”

Referring to her beloved rescue dog, who was recently rehomed with the couple, Ruth went on to say: “Maggie was mesmerised!” before she signed off with the hashtags: “#walking #10000steps #nature #deer.”

Instagram followers, fans and a few famous faces appeared in the comments section to share their thoughts, where some issued a warning about her dog potentially picking up ticks.

“Wow You don’t see that everyday,” one impressed social media user remarked.

“What a beautiful sight,” another added.

Clearly in awe of the sighting, Ruth’s Loose Women co-star Saira Khan wrote “Magical” alongside the post.

A fourth fan said that lockdown had given people a new appreciation for nature, adding: “During lockdown [I’ve] seen so many deer on my runs.(sic)

“So quiet and peaceful. A time that gave us a different view of the world.”

However, on a more serious note, TV star Trisha Goddard pointed out that Ruth should check her dog for ticks which live in woods and long grass.

“They are gorgeous…,” she said, before adding: “But check little Maggie for ticks!”

Sharing a similar thought another user wrote: “Gorgeous but don’t let Maggie run in there could pick up a tick! #lymesdisease.”
