Skylar Gaertner salary: How much is Skylar Gaertner paid for Ozark?

Ozark: Julia Garner gets emotional over final season production

Ozark has turned its younger cast members into huge stars with audiences across the globe falling in love with a tale of middle class family reluctantly turning to a life of crime to survive. Among the cast is newcomer Skylar Gaertner, who plays the Byrdes’ son Jonah Byrde. Gaertner will be reprising his role for the final time when Ozark returns for season four, which is confirmed to be the last outing.

How much is Skylar Gaertner paid for Ozark?

Unfortunately, there aren’t any figures for Gartner’s salary readily available.

However, there are other factors indicating how much he may have made from Ozark.

According to Super Stars Bio, the young actor has a net worth of an estimated £72,000 ($100,000) while Wali Kali suggests its double at an estimated £145,000 ($200,000).

Judging by these figures, the star would have been making most of his money from Ozark but his salary would be lower than most of his fellow cast members.

Gaertner’s age also has a bearing on his salary as the star can only work for a certain number of hours as he’s a minor in America and aged under 18.

Another element in the salary of television stars is their prominence at the time of casting and whether they were a name when they landed their role.

Prior to Ozark, Gaertner has numerous roles to his name including portraying a young Matt Murdock in Netflix and Marvel series Daredevil.

He also had bit parts in CSI, The Ticket, I Smile Back, Nurse Jackie and The Americans but Ozark saw the young actor really come to the fore as his biggest role to date.

Therefore, Gaertner would have made some money from these projects but it would be Ozark which saw him paid more.

Television actors are paid per episode they appear in and so their character’s prominence would affect their salary.

According to IMDb, Gaertner has starred in 30 instalments of Ozark which would mean he would making a decent amount as a recurring character in the show.

As Jonah’s character has grown in significance in the series, Gaertner’s fee is likely to have increased in line with this and star perceived to be a draw to the show.

One final thing to consider is Netflix has more money to pay its cast and crews on its productions because of its business model, which means it profits globally from subscriptions.

Cable channels and more linear broadcasters have less cash because their models are based on national subscriptions which is comparatively less than streamers.

A 2017 salary report from Variety suggested lead stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney were both paid an estimated £239,000 ($300,000) for each episode of Ozark.

Given they were major names when they were cast to carry the show, they were would be paid the top tier salaries.

As an unknown, Gaertner is likely to have been on a fraction of his fee for his work.

Interestingly, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown was reported to have been paid an £260,000 ($350,000) per episode for the Netflix series but it’s unclear which season of the show this was in relation to.

Again, the popularity and growing audience figures can lead to bigger pay cheques for actors.

Although Gaertner’s salary is not known, Ozark is likely to have launched his career with the young star going on to bigger and better things in the future.
