Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Volunteered to Prepare and Package Meals for Emergency Workers

Members of the royal family are continuing to do what they can to help combat the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

BAZAAR.com confirms that Sophie, Countess of Wessex, left her Surrey home to volunteer with rhubarb Ltd, a U.K.–based hospitality group, preparing and packaging meals for NHS emergency room workers. The organization is currently helping cook and deliver thousands of meals a week to five NHS hospitals as they continue to treat thousands of patients diagnosed with the novel virus.

“Her Royal Highness, The Countess of Wessex offered her time to help prepare these NHS meals,” read a statement from rhubarb’s CEO, PB Jacobse. “We were delighted to welcome her on Wednesday 15th April to our humble kitchens, where she joined our team and worked diligently with our chef brigade to prepare food for our heroic NHS Hospital Teams.”

In a series of shared photos via rhubarb’s Instagram, Sophie is seen preparing tins of pasta, stirring sauces, and rolling burritos for hospital staff, while donning precautionary gloves and a face mask.

The Countess of Wessex also took time to visit The Hope Hub this week, BAZAAR.com understands. The Hope Hub is an organization that works to prevent and put an end to homelessness in Surrey Heath and nearby communities.
