Stacey Dooley: Strictly star spills Debbie McGee lingerie confession in costume discovery

Stacey Dooley, 33, opened up about Strictly Come Dancing’s recycling with her former co-star, Susannah Constantine, 57, on her podcast My Wardrobe Malfunction. The TV presenter also admitted she thought Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell were going to win the competition two years ago.

It had Debbie M in the cup.

The Strictly pair chatted away about Stacey’s time on Strictly, and the filmmaker revealed what outfits she took home with her after she won the competition with professional dancer, Kevin Clifton.

Stacey first admitted to Susannah: “I did have a lot of fashion situations on Strictly, you know what it’s like because the outfits are so tiny.”

She then went on to reveal what happens to all the ensembles after the series is over.

The Strictly winner said: “I’ve got two of the dresses. I’ve got the Paso dress, I won in that, and the show dance outfit.”

The fashion guru then asked Stacey: “Did you nick those?” to which she replied with: “I was given the Paso one and nicked the show dance.”

Susannah then chipped in and revealed what she had taken home with her after the show: “I nicked all the hairpieces.”

Stacey then went on to say: “I’ll tell you what will happen now, my agent will get an email off of Strictly wardrobe, saying, can we have the show dance outfit back.”

The journalist quipped she thought “they were quite mean in that way”, but she then went on to say that it’s a good thing that they recycle all the outfits for the BBC show.

Stacey also contributed and said: “Yeah, they recycle everything,” and revealed to the host: “I think I had Debbie McGee’s bra at one point because it had Debbie M in the cup.”

Agreeing with Stacey, Susannah reflected on her experience and added: “All of mine were recycled from Ann Widdecombe.”

Joking with the host, Stacey was in disbelief and said: “That’s not true,” to which Susannah hit back and explained: “It’s completely true! They had to take the seams out of the side of Ann’s clothes.”

Prior to discussing their hand-me-down items of clothing, Stacey gave some details from the night of the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2018, and even admitted that she thought Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell would win the show.

The TV presenter began to explain: “So on the final, it was really funny, it was really looking like we weren’t going to win.”

Stacey then added that she “accepted” that she and Kevin were likely to come runner-up, and had some fun on the final night.

“I sort of totally accepted that. I was certain that Joe was going to win.”

She continued to reveal to Susannah: “So, I was just having fun, and then, we had to do the Paso which is kind of our best dance really.

“And I was really going for it, I was going bang bang bang with the skirt, and I flashed my nunny, like, to the whole nation.”

Stacey continued to tell the journalist how embarrassed she was, as she said: “I think it was to 13 million people watching that night or whatever, I was like that’s so embarrassing!”

“I’ve just shown my area!” Stacey said.
