Katie McGlynn, 28, is one of the celebrities hoping to make an impact on the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor when the show begins tonight. Ahead of taking part, the actress has addressed rumours of her previous experience dancing to Express.co.uk and other outlets.
Back in March 2020, some might remember the star joined other Strictly stars for a dancing special.
She appeared in a celebrity version of The Greatest Dancer for Sport Relief.
Dancing alongside Louis Smith, Saffron Barker and Hrvy, she performed in front of the nation.
The quartet danced a street dance routine for the charity event.
For this, she got some basic dancing training, although at the time she told her social media followers to remember she is “not a dancer”.
Ahead of tonight’s show, Katie has addressed the appearance after being asked if she had any dance experience.
Replying, she said: “Not that I can write home about, to be honest.
“I did The Greatest Dancer a couple of years ago for Sport Relief, that was like street dance.
“But we literally had two days in the studio to learn and that was it.
“So I’ve had two days in a studio and that’s it.”
She went on to add: “Apart from that, I guess pantos over the years doing just the little dance routines.
“But nothing, you can’t even compare it to this. So the answer is no.”
During the Strictly launch show, Katie was partnered up with Gorka Márquez.
The Spanish dancing professional has made it to the final of the show twice with stars Maisie Smith and Alexandra Burke.
Since their pairing was announced, the couple have been keeping their social media followers updated about how training is going.
One of their biggest fans already is Gorka’s fiance and former Strictly competitor Gemma Atkinson.
The soap star recently reacted to the news Katie was paired up with her fiance.
Taking to social media when the news was announced, Gemma said: “I’m thrilled.”
She added to her 1.7 million followers: “We’re going to get on like a house on fire”
Gemma also shared a picture of the pair, writing: “Come on!”
Strictly Come Dancing begins tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
