Motsi Mabuse, 41, has fired back at criticism about the way she handles her judging duties on Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC star gave a witty response to one unimpressed viewer, who complained that she “never gives any advice or criticism”.

Yesterday, Twitter user Denolzio asked: “Is there any reason why Motsi is on Strictly?

“She never gives any advice or criticism and everything is wonderful and great according to her.”

Motsi hit back at the suggestion in view of her 81,600 followers, giving an answer that was dripping in irony.

“Never. Just to tick that box, you know?” she wrote with a string of laughing emojis.

“…Oh dancing I learned from YouTube videos in Africa with the lions and cheetahs!” Motsi continued teasingly.

Motsi’s followers took to the comments section to send messages of support to the professional dancer.

“Is this person even watching the show properly?” asked Davinia. “What’s wrong with people – always one!

“You always give constructive criticism and great advice! I feel you build the contestants up. You are a great soul Motsi.”

Fiona penned: “I think you inspire the dancers to want to be better. You give positive constructive criticism and are fun with it!

While Caroline added: “The other three give plenty of advice and criticism.

“I for one love that you always pick out something positive from every dance, and I’m sure the celebs do too. There is nothing wrong with being nice.” (sic)

“You guys have YouTube in Africa? There’s electricity?” Quintus Janson joked to Motsi, causing the dancer to reply with a long line of laughing emojis.

Motsi’s post comes after she penned another tweet last night about avoiding being “pulled into the negativity”.

The star looked sensational as she posed in a white and gold tiger-pattern dress, which created a stunning silhouette with flared sleeves and a matching skirt.

The judge channelled Strictly glamour in a pair of large gold hoop earrings and matching golding eyeliner.

Beside the photo, Motsi wrote: “What a night!!! Wow!! Don’t be pulled into negativity guys!

“Protect your energy!” she star added as another piece of advice to fans, sending out five heart emojis.

Motsi has been a judge on Strictly Come Dancing since 2019, having previously appeared on its German equivalent show Let’s Dance.

The star’s sister Oti Mabuse was also a dancer on both shows, and won Strictly for two consecutive years in 2019 and 2020.

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs at 8.15 tonight on BBC One.
