‘The Holiday’ actress Miffy Englefield was homeless before landing role

She may have played Jude Law’s daughter in “The Holiday,” but Miffy Englefield has revealed she was actually homeless before winning the role of Sophie.

Englefield — now a self-described “pint-sized punk rocker” — told Vulture she started acting to make cash, saying: “We were homeless.”

The actress was just 7 when she made the 2006 movie, which also starred Cameron Diaz as her character’s potential stepmom and Kate Winslet and Jack Black.

Englefield said she and her dad moved into public housing while she auditioned — and both cried when leaving LA to return to “our horrible, horrible council house in Hampshire.”

But Englefield says she still keeps in touch with director Nancy Meyers and even though she used to hate the movie.

Englefield said: “Now, obviously, I’m in my 20s and I can realize, ‘Oh, my God, that was actually a cool thing I did.’ I was a weird-looking, slightly cute kid. That’s fine.”
