The Oscars Left Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce Out of the In Memoriam Montage

Oscars bosses are under fire for seemingly slighting both Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce. Viewers have complained both stars were left out of the Academy Awards’ annual In Memoriam tribute to those Hollywood figures who have passed away over the last year.

This year’s segment featured Steven Spielberg introducing a musical performance from five-time Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish over the montage.

While Luke Perry was primarily known for his TV work in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale, he also appeared in this year’s Oscar-winning film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Many of those watching the Oscars were offended by Perry’s omission from the montage, calling it “disgusting” and “disrespectful”.

“No Luke Perry in the In Memoriam? He’s in #OUATIH. That’s horrible,” one viewer tweeted.

Others also vented their frustration:

He wasn’t in the In Memoriam montage, but let’s remember Luke Perry tonight, too 😢 #Oscars pic.twitter.com/CaRhTeZasf

No Luke Perry in the In Memoriam? He’s in #OUATIH. That’s horrible. #Oscars

How are you gonna snub Luke Perry from the “In Memoriam” segment? #Oscars

They really left Luke Perry out of the In Memoriam… the disrespect #Oscars

No Luke Perry in the tribute to celebs we lost he was in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood! #oscars #Oscars2020

Also missing from the Memorial montage was Disney’s Descendants star Cameron Boyce, who tragically passed away last summer at just 20 years old.

Boyce also appeared in the Grown Ups movies as Adam Sandler’s on-screen son, as well as Shia LaBeouf’s thriller Eagle Eye.

Heeeeeey!!!
What about Cameron Boyce in the In Memoriam?
He was young, but a very talented guy! #Oscars pic.twitter.com/vZi4TtIlIy

WHERE WAS CAMERON BOYCE IN THE OSCAR MEMORIAL HE DESERCED TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR THE INCREDIBLE ACTOR AND PERSON HE WAS. 😭 #Oscars pic.twitter.com/dr7PvuupW6

Wow, the #Oscars really didn’t even recognize Cameron Boyce in the memorial. How disrespectful. An actor is still an actor regardless if they are an Amacemy Award nominee or winner.

Way to not honor Cameron Boyce #Oscars . A talented soul who deserved more time than he was given. We miss you Cam and honor you in our hearts ❤️

How dare the Oscars not include Cameron Boyce #Oscars

this so BULLSHIT why did the Oscar NOT put Cameron Boyce in the memoriam DISRESPECTFUL AF #oscars

A backlash to a notable figure being left out of the Oscars’ In Memoriam montage is unfortunately an annual tradition at the awards show.

Last year’s ceremony was criticized for missing out on Austin Powers‘ Verne Troyer, while previous years’ Oscars have accidentally snubbed Batman ’66 star Adam West and RoboCop‘s Miguel Ferrer as well as Alexis Arquette.

Sunday’s In Memoriam special did include a tribute to the late NBA star and Oscar winner Kobe Bryant, who was killed along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash on January 26.
