Tom Cruise leads Top Gun after-party after royal evening with Kate and William

Tom Cruise made sure to well and truly live it up in London as he attended the Top Gun: Maverick premiere after-party in Soho on Thursday, after rubbing shoulders with royalty.

The Hollywood star was surrounded by fans as he joined fellow cast members Jennifer Connelly and Jon Hamm at exclusive brasserie Kettner’s following the film’s premiere.

Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev was also pictured arriving at the party after she and Shaun White made their red carpet debut as a couple earlier in the evening.

Earlier in the evening, Cruise had been accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the star-studded screening in Leicester Square.

Kate, 40, looked elegant in a black and white off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret gown while William, 39, was dapper in a velvet Alexander McQueen tuxedo.

Cruise welcomed the couple to the royal film performance with his trademark Hollywood smile before taking Kate’s hand and joking with her.

He then introduced the royal couple to his fellow cast members.

Cruise cemented his royal connections by contributing to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration, and delighted fans by walking through Windsor for the big event last weekend.

The evening, which was broadcast live on ITV from Windsor Castle, celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years on the throne.

Speaking to the show’s presenters Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham, Cruise said of our monarch: ‘She’s a woman I greatly admire…What she’s accomplished has been historic.’

The star also praised Prince William at the Top Gun premiere last night, saying: ‘We have a lot in common. We both love England, and we’re both aviators, we both love flying.’

On the red carpet, William had sported a pair of loafers embroidered with mini fighter jets in recognition to the film and his love for aviation.

Top Gun: Maverick, which has so far received rave reviews, sees Cruise reprise the role of US naval aviator Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell and comes 36 years after the 1986 original.

Other stars include Miles Teller, Ed Harris, Jay Ellis, Monica Barbaro and Val Kilmer.

The 59-year-old actor said he was happy to be back on the red carpet, adding: ‘I love what I do, I’ve always enjoyed it and I’m enjoying it even more now.

‘Particularly after the last couple of years, just to have an event like this is extraordinary.’
