Tom Parker's book has revealed in his book how his pal Ed Sheeran helped to pay for his medical treatment during his brave battle against brain cancer.
The Wanted star Tom was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in October 2020 and tragically passed away at age 33 in March this year.
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife Kelsey and their two children Aurelia, two, and one year old Bodhi.
Before the singer's tragic death, Tom wrote a book on his cancer journey titled Hope: My Inspirational Life, which is due for release later this month. And in the memoir he has revealed how his friend Ed, 31, got in touch shortly after his diagnosis to offer some help and even paid for some medical bills.
An excerpt from the book, obtained by The Sun, read: “I’ve never publicly said this before (and he’ll probably be mad that I’m doing it now), but Ed is a very special man. He even helped out with my medical bills when I was seeking other treatment options and having private immunotherapy.
“He didn’t need to do any of that, but my wife Kelsey and I are so grateful to him for his support. It meant the world.
“Overnight, my entire world turned upside down and I was forced to re-evaluate the value of life itself. I was absolutely petrified – I couldn’t stop thinking about death.”
Tom, who's bandmates have vowed to help raise his children, and Ed got to know one another when the Shape of You singer joined Tom and his fellow The Wanted bandmates on his tour bus in the United States more than 10 years ago.
Ed was one of the first stars to pay tribute to Tom following his sad passing.
Singer Ed shared a photo of Tom on his Instagram and wrote in the caption: "So sad to hear of Tom’s passing.
"Thoughts and love are with Kelsey, his children and his family. Very sad day, what a lovely guy x".
