Allen Hughes has signed a deal with Tupac Shakur’s estate to produce a five-part documentary series on the late hip hop icon.
As per the agreement, the acclaimed director can access the entire set of Tupac’s released and unreleased recordings, writings and poetry.
Lasse Järvi and Charles D. King will be co-executive producers along with Hughes.
Hughes is the director of “The Defiant Ones,” an HBO docuseries focused on the creative and business partnership between Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine.
The docuseries will be “the first definitive, comprehensive project on Shakur with the full cooperation of the estate,” the Shakur Estate said.
Shakur was shot to death in Las Vegas in 1996 when he was only 25.
