The epicenter of the earthquake that is Beyoncémania lies in her inimitable reputation and work ethic, beginning when she was just a teenage starlet in Destiny’s Child to her current 23 Grammy wins. Now, with the possibility of an EGOT on the rise for the 37-year-old singer-songwriter, you can expect more rumblings in Queen Bey Nation.
Being an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards) winner is a prestigious honor for anyone who works in the entertainment industry, especially given that only 15 people hold that title. Here’s how Beyoncé’s odds look so far.
Emmys
The singer’s acclaimed Netflix special, Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé, which chronicled the inner workings of her 2018 Coachella headliner performance received six nominations, but lost in every category. Beyoncé herself was nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction, Outstanding Writing or a Variety Special, and Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).
She was also previously nominated for her visual album Lemonade in 2016 and for her HBO special On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay-Z in 2015.
Grammys
Over the course of her long and illustrious career, Beyoncé has accrued 23 Grammy Awards and 66 Grammy nominations. She won her first Grammy for the sad-girl anthem of the year 2000, “Say My Name,” in the categories Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group. Nearly two decades and some accolades later, Beyoncé won her most recent Grammy for Everything Is Love, a collaboration with her husband Jay-Z, in the Best Urban Contemporary Album category.

Oscars
Although Beyoncé has yet to receive an Oscar win or nomination, we anticipate that her song “Spirit,” featured on The Lion King soundtrack, will be up for an Academy Award.
She once came close to an Oscar nomination for the 2006 film Dreamgirls, in which she starred as Deena Jones and co-wrote the original song, “Listen,” along with Henry Krieger, Anne Preven and Scott Cutler. However, according to the Academy’s rules, “No more than two statuettes will normally be given in the Original Song category. A third statuette may be awarded when there are three essentially equal contributors to a song.” As a result, Krieger, Preven, and Cutler were nominated for the song while Beyoncé was left out.
Still, she ended up receiving Golden Globe nominations for her work in Dreamgirls, namely in the categories for Best Original Song and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture.
Tonys
The Tonys, which recognizes Broadway productions, are another awards category that Beyoncé has yet to skim the surface of. But, knowing her glass-ceiling-shattering capabilities, a Beyoncé Tony acceptance speech may yet still be in our midst.
