Alison Hammond has broken her silence after it was claimed her relationship with her This Morning co-star Dermot O’Leary had cooled.

There were reports of tensions between the presenting duo, who have presented the ITV daytime show since 2020, with an insider claiming their friendship was ‘strained.’

They went on to claim the broadcaster’s bosses were ‘worried’ because they were relying on Alison, 48, and Dermot, 50, to ‘carry the show through tough times’ after it was hit by allegations of toxicity and the resignation of Phillip Schofield.

ITV was quick to rubbish claims of frostiness between the new Great British Bake Off presenter, branding the rumours ‘nonsense’, and Alison has now appeared to have done so herself in a joyful way.

On Thursday, ahead of This Morning, Alison shared a clip on Twitter of herself and Dermot getting their groove on and belting out Ronan Keating’s classic hit Life Is A Rollercoaster, looking like the best of pals.

Alison and Dermot had both also appeared to shut down the ‘strained’ claims on Sunday by both resharing a This Morning post on Instagram that showed the pair beaming and holding hands.

The caption from the programme read: ‘Join @alisonhammond55 and @dermotoleary this week for some summer fun, including @johntorodecooks cooking up a comfort food classic, and a chat with @officialdannydyer in the studio on Monday! ✨.’

Dermot simply reposted the picture on his Story, while Alison added a ‘Yay’ gif to really emphasise her excitement for Monday’s instalment.

In a statement, ITV had previously said: ‘This is absolute nonsense. There’s no tension between Alison and Dermot, quite the opposite.’

They continued: ‘Alison, Dermot and Holly are all valued members of the This Morning family and all enjoy working together on the show, as well as having friendships outside of the show.’

ITV bosses are also reportedly keen to ‘lock in’ Alison with a supposed deal that could land her a salary of £500,000.

n insider shared: ‘ITV bosses want to cut a new deal with Alison. They are seriously worried about Holly talking to the BBC and fear she could be next.

‘She is incredibly popular and is perceived as very honest – which is worth a lot following Phillip’s admission that he lied to everyone.’

They added to the Mirror: ‘They want to lock her in, and there has even been talk of a golden handcuffs deal solely for entertainment shows with ITV.’

The source suggested a deal like that could land her a salary of up to £500,000 per year, but insisted that there are ‘currently no plans in place for that’.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
