We’ve seen plenty of twists and turns over the course of Shining Vale‘s first season, and now the Starz series is poised to come to a dramatic end. SheKnows was given an exclusive look at a scene from the last chapter of this installment of the series, and it looks like Rosemary (Mira Sorvino) is finally getting into the mind of our troubled author Patricia ‘Pat’ Phelps (Courteney Cox). But will the spirit’s whisperings really send the Phelps family even more into a spiral? Or has everything that’s happened really been just part of Pat’s imagination at this critical point in her life? We’re dying to find out.

It’s true that in Shining Vale the relationships are at the center of this horror story, and the bond between Rosemary and Pat — as eerie as it may seem — has been steadily building to this breaking point. In the clip, Rosemary taunts Pat over and over again about her marriage to Terry (Greg Kinnear), trying to break the Phelps family bit by bit. It’s something series creator Sharon Horgan already alluded to when she chatted with us last month.

“I’ve always loved horror ever since I was little, and I’ve always loved writing about relationships,” Horgan previously shared with SheKnows’ Reshma Gopaldas. “I had the feeling that if you were going to do a certain horror-comedy crossover, you’d need to have fairly high stakes. The idea of it being The Shinning but funny was the thing that sort of motivated it. But also it was this idea that you don’t really know if this woman is losing her mind or not.”

Even up until this final episode, we still have so many questions about where Shining Vale will go next. Once the shocking end of Pat’s book is revealed, what will be left of the Phelps family? Find out this Sunday, April 17, only on Starz.
