Firefighters were called to Zoe Ball’s home after she accidentally left a candle burning.

The television presenter, 52, explained the situation on her BBC Radio 2 programme on Tuesday.

She said: ‘I haven’t told you what happened to me at the end of the show yesterday.

‘Do you remember on the show yesterday I was talking about things that have happened to you for the first time?

‘Well yesterday, something happened to me for the first time, that the fire brigade went to my house.

‘I had left a candle burning in the lounge.’

She went on: ‘I was so obsessed with The Matrix when I watched it on Sunday night and the fact that I had made a cake, I had gone to bed and hadn’t blown out one of the candles.

‘It was left smouldering in the lounge and at 9.25am my smoke alarms went off and thank goodness!

‘Otherwise I might have gone home to no home!’

Zoe went on to say thanks to her neighbours for calling the fire brigade, who then went to her house and put out the candle.

‘[They] stopped my house from burning down.’

Mum-of-two Zoe has previously given a peak into her East Sussex home on Celebrity Gogglebox and social media, after moving from Brighton at the beginning of 2018.

Zoe is mum to two kids, son Woody, 22, who appeared on reality show The Circle, and daughter Nelly, 13, who she shares with her ex Norman Cook (also known as Fatboy Slim).
