Freddie Highmore shared a crazy experience which involved him being shoved into a broom closet to avoid a run-in with a popular chat show host.

The 31-year-old actor, who rose to fame as a child star in the early noughties with parts in big films like Finding Neverland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, opposite Johnny Depp, discussed the bizarre ordeal on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The Good Doctor star heaped praise on Jimmy’s backstage environment before mentioning the time he was forced into a tiny room before his TV appearance.

‘I’m trying to avoid saying the name, but this host doesn’t like seeing guests beforehand,’ Freddie said during Monday’s show.

‘So I was coming backstage with a couple of the producers and they looked up and they saw the host at the end of the corridor and they were really, really scared.’

Apparently, the show bosses in question were so terrified that their best plan of action was to throw Freddie in a ‘broom closet.’

Yep, a broom closet!

He continued: ‘They grabbed me and they threw me into the next door that was right by the hallway and it was a broom closet. A dark broom closet. I was there for about a minute and they were like these sort of secret service agents on their phones like, “are we clear? Are we good? Have they gone? Can we bring him out?’ Terrified.”‘

Host Jimmy, who was just as shocked as we are, exclaimed: ‘You were stuck into a closet?’

To which Freddie replied: ‘And then just walked out as if nothing happened!’

Although Jimmy tried his best to squeeze the identity out of Freddie, the actor simply hailed his show as a much ‘better experience.’

We’re sure it was nicer than being in a closet Freddie!

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs every weeknight on ABC.
