Gogglebox stars really 'upset' as Stephen Webb quits after 10 years

Stephen Webb is departing Gogglebox after a whole decade on the Channel 4 show. We’ll no longer be able to catch up with the hairdresser on a Friday night at 9pm, and that fact makes us sad, and his co-stars too.

Writing about his decision to step away Stephen, 52, explained that after so long he wanted to ‘explore other opportunities’ with his husband Daniel Lustig-Webb.

‘After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox,’ he shared on Instagram.

‘We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.’

His TV-watching colleagues flooded the post with their good luck messages and revealed their sadness.

‘Aww that’s upset me and Shirley, to think your finishing but we all take different paths you both take care lots of love,’ wrote Dave Griffiths, who appears on the show with his wife Shirley Griffiths.

Jenny Newby and Lee Riley wrote: ‘Good luck 🍀to you both we will miss you but if you feel the time is right it’s right no more PRE-AMBLES lucky twats 😂🤣😂🤣much love to you both 😘😘’.

‘So sorry to hear this, Jane and I will miss you. Watching how you did it was super helpful to us newbies. And I will miss your quips about my hair! 😂😍 Best of luck with whatever you do next. Thank you for all the joy and laughter. X,’ wrote Simon Minty.

Izzy Warner and Sophie Sandiford also told Stephen and Daniel they would be greatly missed.

Celebrity fan Ruth Langsford added: ‘Nooooooo!! You must do what’s best for you both but I will miss you SO much….and the dogs! 🥲’

This is truly the end of an era as Stephen first joined Gogglebox as one of the original stars in 2013 for season one, with his former partner Christopher Steed.

After Christopher left the series in 2017, Stephen’s mother Pat Webb took his place from series 10 to 12.

Daniel, 48, has joined Stephen since series 13, appearing on Gogglebox from 2019.

The new series of Gogglebox launches on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
