Inside Sophie Ellis-Bextor's West London family home where she's isolating

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been making the most of spending lockdown at home and entertaining fans from the comfort of her own kitchen.

The singer, 41, hasn’t let the coronavirus pandemic stop her from performing and she’s been hosting discos in her kitchen each week for her social media followers.

As well as watching her deliver her silky vocals, fans have also been getting a glimpse into Sophie’s West London home she shares with husband Richard Jones and their five children.

The couple are parents to five boys; sons Sonny, 16, Kit, 11, Ray, eight, Jesse, five, and Mickey, one, with their fun-loving home providing the perfect place for them to make the most of family time in lockdown.

And by the looks of things, Sophie, who has been resting up lately after falling off her bike, has imprinted her quirky and vibrant style into each and every room, with plenty of colour and funky prints.

Of course, the heart of her home is her kitchen, with its gorgeous bay window transforming into the star’s very own stage, because who doesn’t want to switch on their disco lights and belt out their favourite tunes after cooking up a storm.

The stunning ceiling-tall window sits at the edge of the kitchen/dining space and looks out to the garden, while dressed up with pretty bunting and a glitterball Strictly would be proud that hangs down just in front of it.

Underneath sits a window seat, scattered with bold statement cushions and when she’s hitting her make-shift stage, Sophie likes to add strips of lighting and pink ribbon fringing to really make the room pop.

The rustic wooden flooring runs throughout the downstairs, with a blue armchair sitting just to the side of the dining space bordered by fun-loving pink neon signs.

When we had our first two babies, we moved house. It was stressful and tricky and I vowed once we moved to our current home that I wouldn’t move again for at least a decade. When we had Mickey, I had the urge to rejuvenate the home a bit and so we redid our kitchen with #imaggiointeriors . I wanted to take a photo when everything is neat but in our house it’s never 100% there! I love our new @tomdixonstudio lights and our navy doors and our @busterandpunch door handles (which they kindly #gifted but I was going to buy them anyway). When the sun is shining too, it’s lovely.. and look! The baby sleeps! X special credit for @juliajeremiah whose amazing pear and almond tart is under the cake dome. Julia – I’ve nearly finished the second tart by myself. ?

Over in the kitchen, a huge heart sign holding the word family in a banner hangs above the fireplace and is an exact replica of the tattoo Sophie has on her upper arm.

The huge navy-themed kitchen spreads out over a huge area, with its dark cupboards and cabinets contrasting with pale pink walls and a fun floral patterned wallpaper that runs across the walls.

A huge wooden breakfast island with a stainless steel top breaks up the space and plays host to everything from the hob, to pots of kitchen utensils, baked goods and fresh flowers, while three monochrome dome lights hang above it.

In the corners of the kitchen, white tiles line the back of the counter-tops and navy shelfs sit just above providing storage space for easy to grab ingredients, while a large fridge freezer and double over slot neatly into the floor-to-ceiling cabinets.

Hello all. Just to let you know I’m doing ok. I’ve been so well looked after at home and am currently laid up on a sofa surrounded by my 3 smallest boys. I’ve got some impressive bruises and a swollen and newly glued forehead which I’m completely fascinated by. If I hurt myself, I’m always satisfied by a spectacular healing process and my puffy face has not disappointed. I want to thank you for the lovely messages. Quite overwhelming really, and almost worth falling off my bike for. As it happens I’ve been feeling so incredibly lucky to have not broken anything and to be fortunate enough to have so much support Xxxx hope you’re doing ok on what would have usually been our date night for the last couple of months. Have a boogie for me. I’ll be dancing with you again in no time X

Another cosy dining room, perfect for hosting those big family occasions like Christmas, sits nearby, with the same floral wallpaper creating a feature wall and a large table taking pride of place in the centre.

Given that both Sophie and Richard are known for their presence in the music industry (Richard was part of band The Feeling), it’s no surprise to see plenty of musical influences around their home.

A wooden piano sits in the corner of the room, with some of our favourite decor pieces in Sophie’s home – a huge milkshake statue, a lamp that is pretty much a dog wearing the lampshade for a hat and a huge red star lighting feature.

Oh, and did we mention the huge ice-cream just sitting in the lounge?

Sophie’s love for bold colours rings true in the living area too, with the Murder On The Dancefloor hit-maker favouring contrasting bright pink and navy sofas – perfect for kicking back on and brushing up on those guitar skill.

They frame a patterned rug, wooden coffee table and vintage-style fireplace.

The hallway mirror makes for a good selfie spot – even if it is adorned with cute polaroid snaps – and Sophie is also the proud owner of a walk-in wardrobe that she admits probably needs a bit of a tidy up.

Her boys have their very own playroom downstairs, equipped with a drum kit (we’re guessing there’s no shortage of musical talent here), chalkboards, a retro style pool table and stacks of boxes filled with toys.

We’re guessing there’s a few fancy dress numbers buried in there too, given the number of cute snaps of her kids rocking their costumes.

Sophie’s family home also boasts a garden out the back with a big patio and outdoor seating, as well as plenty of greenery and flowerbeds.

Despite the gang seeming to be making the most of home life during lockdown, things haven’t been all that plain sailing lately, as Sophie was caught up in a bike crash that left her with nasty injuries.

The star ended up in A&E after falling off her bike and down the side of the River Thames while trying to avoid colliding into someone as she was cycling on a date night with husband Richard.

Sophie told fans she was left with ‘impressive bruising’ and a swollen forehead that had to be glued together, but assured everyone she is doing ok and now recovering at home.
