Jason Momoa might be a “brother” to Lenny Kravitz, but to most people, he’s the internet’s boyfriend. But before the web fell in love with him, Momoa was the husband of Emilia Clarke’s Khaleesi in Game of Thrones. Over the weekend, Emilia Clarke reunited with Jason Momoa for a Game of Thrones-inspired birthday photo, and we have the feels.
Ahead of Momoa’s 40th birthday on August 1, Clarke spent some time over the weekend with her on-screen husband to usher him into the next decade of his life. (Clarke was best known on Game of Thrones for playing Daenerys Targaryen — or Khaleesi — the wife to Momoa’s late Khal Drogo.) In honor of her former co-star b-day, Clarke posted an Instagram of her and Momoa hugging. She captioned it: “With you I feel 2 feet small…HAPPY FREAKING BIRTHDAY BABY! An oversized bath tub of happiness for another year of you.”
That wasn’t the only photo Clarke posted for her on-screen hubby. In a second photo, the actress can be seen lounging in a giant bathtub — reminiscent of a scene involving Daenerys and Khal Drogo from the first season of Game of Thrones. She joked in the hashtags that the circular marble tub was big enough to bathe Dany’s dragons in.
Clarke and Momoa have only worked together for a season (Momoa’s character died in the 10th episode of the first season), but the two have developed a close bond since their time on screen. In April, Momoa got emotional when Clarke revealed she had an aneurysm during filming. Their friendship has stayed close since then, with Momoa dropping onto the set during the show’s final season to snap a pic with Clarke and co-star Peter Dinklage. Momoa also had to let loose a string of F-bombs after watching the show’s series finale where Clarke is deceived and ultimately killed.
