John Barrowman has expressed his devastation after cancelling his UK tour due to the ‘increased costs of touring.’
The Torchwood star was scheduled to embark on a nine-date UK tour in February 2023 to celebrate his album Centre Stage.
However, the former Dancing on Ice judge apologised to his devoted fans before confirming that his upcoming shows have been cancelled.
‘It is with huge regret that we have decided to cancel the UK tour,’ he penned in an Instagram post.
‘Unfortunately, tickets sales in certain parts of the UK have been slow, and with the increased costs of touring it is no longer economically viable to continue.
‘This is a decision that has not been taken lightly, and I know many of my fans will be very upset, as am I.’

He continued: ‘Personally I am devastated and like many people I have found the last years extremely difficult, possibly the hardest few years of my life.
‘When it gets tough it is sometimes better to stop and re-evaluate and that is exactly what I am going to do. I am so sorry to all my fans. Jb.’
Fans also shared their sorrow over the cancellation but commended Barrowman for his honesty.
‘Very sad you’ve had to cancel the tour, but high praise to you for being so honest about the reason & not stringing people along with an excuse. I hope that the tour can be put on again in the near future,’ one person wrote.
‘I’m gutted that the tour has been cancelled but can completely understand why. You need to do what’s right for you. Take care of yourself,’ another added.
Ahead of his tour, Barrowman said: ‘Looking forward to the album’s release. This album has brought me back to my first love and it was quite hard choosing the tracks.
‘I didn’t want to do the typical ‘musical theatre album’, I wanted to take you on a journey through my life, career and my passions with the songs I’ve chosen. I think I’ve done exactly what I set out to achieve, and I hope you will love it as much as I loved putting it together.
‘I hope that every day you will be inspired to burst into song and help make the world a better place!’
