Johnny Depp fans start petition to have Amber Heard dropped by L'Oreal

Johnny Depp fans have launched a petition to get his ex Amber Heard dropped by L’Oreal.

She is currently a spokesperson for the beauty brand, but fans are now calling for L’Oreal to cut ties with Amber and remove her as a brand ambassador, amid an ongoing lawsuit between the Justice League star and her ex Depp, with both accusing the other of domestic abuse.

Depp launched a $50million (£40million) defamation lawsuit against Amber, following an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in December – alleging she was a victim of domestic abuse, without naming her abuser.

Pirates of the Caribbean star Depp claimed that Amber’s ‘fabricated domestic violence allegations are categorically and demonstrably false’ and his lawyers argued it was an attempt to ‘smear’ his name.

Depp alleges that Amber once stubbed a cigarette out on his face and severed his finger with a wine bottle – claims Amber’s lawyers have previously said are ‘categorically untrue’.

They have accused Depp of ‘physically and psychologically’ abusing Amber, with the actress claiming he became a ‘monster’ on drink and drugs and accused him of beating her, pulling out her hair and strangling her.

A 30-minute audio recording has since emerged of Amber admitting to hitting Depp when they fight, as the ex-couple are heard battling out their claims.

The recording prompted fans to launch a petition to have Amber dropped by L’Oreal, with a target of reaching 5000 signatures. So far, 4935 have signed.

It comes after Depp fans launched another petition to have Amber removed from Aquaman 2, calling for Warner Bros. to take action against the star amid the domestic abuse allegations.

Nearly 350,000 people have signed the petition.

In November, it was reported Amber is trying to get Depp’s defamation lawsuit dismissed and it has now been pushed back to August 2020.

She and Depp married in 2015, before divorcing two years later in 2017.

In May 2016, Amber filed for a domestic violence restraining order against Depp, accusing him of abusing her. Depp denied the claims and the exes settled their divorce out of court for £5.6million.
