Lizzo has fought back against online haters with some incredible body positive snaps.
The Truth Hurts singer, 35, has long been subject to racist and fatphobic trolls, and recently even admitted to being ‘close’ to ‘giving up’ on music because of it.
Having already taken measures to decrease the impact of the online hate by limiting who can see her Twitter page, Lizzo took to the app to share her thoughts on the issue just last week.
In a series of impassioned Tweets responding to someone who wondered what ‘she must be eating’ to make her ‘THIS fat’, Lizzo wrote: ‘I JUST logged on and the app and this is the type of s*** I see about me on a daily basis.
‘It’s really starting to make me hate the world. Then someone in the comments said I eat “lots of fast food”.
‘I LITERALLY STOPPED EATING FAST FOOD YEARS AGO…’ she told them.
The performer continued saying she was ‘tired of explaining myself all the time and I just wanna get on this app w/out seeing my name in some bulls***’.
Now, the singer has taken to social media again, but this time with a defiant and empowering message.
Alongside a series of fabulous pictures of her body in all it’s glory, Lizzo wrote: ‘Never beating the fat-ass allegations… ?.’
Fans were loving the singer taking a stand – as she long has – for body positivity.
‘Why y’all hating? She’s a beautiful woman, I’m guessing yall just can’t handle her,’ commented one.
Another said: ‘When you wipe your tears with hundred dollar bills.’
‘?????? and what a fabulous a$$ it is! ? I love how you represent with confidence and your igaf attitude is everything! ❤️,’ wrote another.
A few of her 13.4million followers got super candid about Lizzo’s inspiring impact, as one said: ‘We love you. And you’ve inspired me to work on my body dysmorphia and stop feeling so terrible about myself.
‘You are amazing and please don’t let the haters dim your light. Your impact on the world is greater than you could ever imagine.
On the topic of the haters, one person wrote: ‘Imagine being so pressed that you follow this amazing powerful black woman to post hate comments on all her posts while she’s successful and you’re trolling her.
‘Go ahead Queen, own your throne and ignore all these chickenheads.’
Meanwhile, on Twitter last week Lizzo responded to another troll, who wrote: ‘I don’t think Lizzo wants to be smaller… yet… If she did, she would be. It’s her brand. If she’s working with nutritionists they’re probably showing her how to eat healthy and maintain her size.’
To this, exasperated, Lizzo said that she was just ‘trying to live.’
‘Y’all really need to touch grass…,’ she began, ‘I’m not trying to BE fat. I’m not trying to BE smaller. I’m literally just trying to live and be healthy.
‘This is what my body looks like even when I’m eating super clean and working out.
‘Y’all speak on s*** y’all know NOTHING ABOUT and I’m starting to get heated.’
She continued: ‘Y’all don’t know how close I be to giving up on everyone and quitting and enjoying my music and my man on a F***ING FARM…’
