In the wake of Spider-Man 2’s new gameplay trailer, Insomniac attempts to put minds at ease over the lack of launch date and pre-order details.
Since it served as the finale of last night’s PlayStation Showcase, and is scheduled to arrive this autumn, you’d think Sony would be able to tell everyone exactly when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is launching.
Yet while fans were treated to roughly 10 minutes of gameplay, confirming new details like swapping control between Peter and Miles, and the former sporting the iconic black symbiote suit, Sony could only reiterate an autumn launch window.
The lack of a date, with at least four months to go, has caused some concern anddeveloper Insomniac appears to have recognised this and is assuring fans that details regarding the launch date and pre-orders will be shared in the near future.
‘Watching your reactions today has been spectacular. We know you have tons of questions about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and we’re eager to share more soon, including news about the release date, pre-orders, and accessibility features,’ it tweeted.
When one fan expressed worry about missing the pre-order window for a potential collector’s edition (something that also hasn’t been announced but probably will be a thing), Insomniac promises to inform everyone of pre-order dates before they go live.
With the black suit confirmed to be a key part of Peter’s arsenal this time, some even think, rather than just get moodier and more violent, he’ll outright turn into Venom at some point. One fan has an especially wild prediction that Venom and Kraven will be one and the same, with the latter taking the black suit for himself.
It feels like a pretty clear line that Spider-Man 2 is going to have Harry Osborn be Venom and honestly that’s yet another great revamp for that universe because it immediately makes the relationship with Peter so much more raw and painful than Eddie was early on
