Well, there we have it. The Traitors is over and Wilfred Webster has been outed – but not without an emotional showdown.
Wilfred played a savage game, stabbing both Alyssa Chan and Amanda Lovett in the back in a bid to scoop over £100,000 for himself.
However, in a final roundtable, Wilf – who the remaining players Hannah Byczkowski, Aaron Evans, and Meryl William were all convinced was Faithful – was exposed.
As Kieran Tompsett was banished after being newly-recruited, he made a comment about voting for Wilf as his ‘parting gift’, digging in the knife one final time.
With the remaining players, naturally, suspicious, they decided to make one last banishment, ousting Wilf and forcing him to reveal his secret.
As he did so around the fire pit, the former dancer burst into tears, unable to control his emotions after playing the game so intensely for so long.
‘I’m a Traitor,’ Wilf revealed, before clarifying to the others that, no, he was not joking.
‘I can’t tell you how f***ing happy I am at the moment,’ he exclaimed. ‘I’m so happy for you guys.’
A tearful Wilf continued: ‘I’ve had to fight, and the more I’ve got to know you guys and had to try and steal money from you, it’s been really hard.
‘But honestly, I couldn’t go through this process without people that make me happy. You lot made me happy, you made me enjoy being here.
‘Every day I tried to play as a Faithful, I tried to enjoy my time here, and the only way I can do that is by having people like you around me, knowing that at least if this time ever comes, the money’s going to people I really like.’
He declared his love for his fellow finalists before an emotional Aaron joked: ‘You are a massive d***head but I love you so much,’ leaving Claudia Winkleman also in tears.
The presenter of the show then praised Wilf for being ‘the most amazing player’ before officially banishing him – but not without one final group hug.
Once Wilf was off the grounds of the Scottish castle, the £101,050 prize pot was split between Hannah, Aaron, and Meryl, who could not have been happier.
Reacting to Wilf’s utter bombshell, Twitter practically exploded, with one stating that they simply could not breathe while witnessing Wilf’s downfall – honestly, same.
‘Brilliant play from @kierantompsett tonight dropping all the clues that Wilf was a traitor’, one person tweeted.
‘I have to say how fantastic the final of The Traitors was. It really got me, I felt sick for all of them. I actually cried. So pleased for them but I have to say how well Wilf played the game. Felt sorry for him, when all’s said and done, it was just a game! Glad they hugged him!’, added another.
Others hailed the grand final ‘quality TV’, adding: ‘What an ending!’
The Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
