What’s on TV Sunday: ‘Big Little Lies’ and ‘Typewriter’

What’s on TV

BIG LITTLE LIES 9 p.m. on HBO; stream on HBO platforms. The Monterey Five have been on a loop this season of “he slipped,” guilt, infidelity and a smattering of viciousness from Mary Louise (Meryl Streep), the shadowy mother-in-law of Celeste (Nicole Kidman). “‘Big Little Lies’ is evolving into ‘Big Little Truths,’ and it’s unclear whether that will sustain a long-running story or just a well-made curtain call,” James Poniewozik wrote in his New York Times review. How (or if) the show will come to an end — and whether the five women will finally snap — will come to light in the Season 2 finale. After a brutal beginning to a trial for the custody of Max (Nicholas Crovetti) and Josh (Cameron Crovetti), Celeste’s children, Celeste will attempt to turn the tables on the woman determined to destroy the lives of the Monterey Five. Despite an already large pile of secrets stacked against the women, a new revelation at the trial just may overshadow them all.

GORDON RAMSAY: UNCHARTED 10 p.m. on National Geographic Channel. Gordon Ramsay has added another reality show to his repertoire, though this one takes the famous chef outside of a restaurant kitchen. In “Uncharted,” Chef Ramsay will travel the world to discover local cuisine, and who is making it best. For those who may be worried it sounds similar to Anthony Bourdain’s beloved travel food show, it diverges thanks to one of Chef Ramsay’s signature features in his shows: competition. He plans to test the technique of each local chef he encounters with a comparison of his newfound culinary skills from the region. The competition plays out first in Peru.

BURDEN OF TRUTH 9 p.m. on The CW. After Joanna Chang (Kristin Kreuk) won a dramatic trial in the first season seeking justice for five girls whose exposure to a toxic dump made them sick, she took a role as a corporate lawyer for a large firm in Winnipeg, Canada, hoping for a fresh start. But that is far from what she got. Instead, a new client sends her into a shadowy criminal underground, where she faces murder, becomes the target of a killer and winds up with a case that is nearly impossible to defend. In the Season 2 finale, Joanna risks everything to win her trial by putting an unexpected witness on the stand.
