Carey Mulligan’s latest award-show look came with a striking silhouette. The Promising Young Woman actress appeared during the 2021 SAG Awards on Sunday wearing a custom satin Prada outfit consisting of a black floor-length skirt and a cream apron — a very high-fashion apron featuring subtle ruching at the sides and an open back with a bow at the waist.
Apron dresses aren’t commonly seen at award shows, although this one does conjure up comparisons to the red Dior dress Emma Watson famously layered over pants at the 2014 Golden Globes, as well as Alicia Vikander’s pleated Louis Vuitton dress at the 2016 Golden Globes. Styled by Nicky Yates, Carey’s outfit was paired with black satin sandals and emerald earrings and a matching ring by Cartier. After being delightfully surprised by this look, we can’t wait to see what she wears to the Oscars on April 25.
