Denise Welch almost names ‘prominent’ royal who ‘had an affair’ – but Loose Women producers warn her to keep quiet – The Sun

DENISE Welch shocked the audience of Loose Women today after claiming that a ‘prominent’ male member of the royal family was once caught having an affair.

The 61-year-old shared the tale with her fellow panellists on Monday’s show as they discussed the upcoming release of the third series of The Crown.

Denise told how her late Coronation Street co-star, Betty Driver, claimed that she used to watch a "prominent male member of the Royal family" having "jiggy jiggy" on a roof terrace opposite her London home.

However, it remains unclear who this mystery royal was as producers warned Denise not to divulge any names during the live show.

Sharing “Hot Pot Betty’s” story, the former Corrie actress said: “She told me that all the time she was working on Corrie she also kept her London flat which had a roof terrace.

“And she used to go up to her roof terrace.”

A worried Andrea McClean interjects, warning Denise to be “really careful” with what she says.

Denise responds: “It's so funny my producers are going "no names Denzie, no names”

Continuing the story she says: “She  used to look over to an opposite roof terrace where a very prominent male member of the royal family used to keep his… concubine, would that be the word?

“And, they were actually having jiggy jiggy on the roof terrace.”

Her story was met with gasps from the audience, with Denise quick to add that she is “not one to gossip.”

“She had other proof that it was the person” she added “She made it her mission to find out, put it that way.”

The hit Netflix series of The Crown returns tomorrow which will continue to follow the history of the royal family.

Series three, in which Olivia Coleman plays The Queen, covers the late sixties and seventies – blending historical fact with fiction.

It includes a racy scene where Princess Anne cavorts in sexy underwear with muscly soldier Andrew Parker Bowles, ex-husband of Charles' wife Camilla, and a highly charged one where Princess Margaret takes an overdose of sedatives.

Buckingham Palace insiders have refused to be drawn into debates about the show's content, but writer Peter Morgan insists there is always an "underlying truth" to the script.

In other royal news, we told you how the Queen's former aide Dickie Arbiter has blasted The Crown for suggesting she had an affair with her horse racing manager.
