Help! I Can’t Stop Rewatching This Model’s Fierce, Meme-Inspiring Runway Walk
World, meet Leon Dame. He’s my inspiration for the remainder of 2019, the new centerfold of my mood board, and the wind beneath my wings. The German model became the highlight of Paris Fashion Week and the internet’s latest icon when he walked the runway for Maison Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2020 show. But Leon’s walk wasn’t just any ol’ run-of-the-mill strut — it was perhaps the fiercest, most intense stomp Fashion Month has seen yet.
Donning a leather jacket, a military-inspired hat, and patent knee-high boots, a slightly hunched-over Leon practically oozed swagger and determination as he made his way down the catwalk and showed off a crisscrossed gait that made my knees quiver just watching it. While closing the show, he maintained a potent, almost menacing stare capable of piercing titanium-wrapped diamonds (yes, it’s that sharp). Fittingly, a remixed song that repeated the phrase “work it” blasted over the venue’s loudspeakers — and work it he did.
