I totally transformed my gloomy staircase using a sock and some bin liners – people can’t believe the difference | The Sun

A WANNABE Interior designer shared an ingenious hack that saw her transform her drab and dreary staircase using just paint, a sock and a bin liner.

The DIY enthusiast who uses the handle tippyandpeashouse took to TikTok to share the strange but effective hack.

Using the 90's r&b song I'm So Into You by SWV as a musical back drop, she captioned the reel: "Staircase Transformation."She then proceeded with the stunning transformation.

It's fair to say that the staircase looked like it needed a makeover and she was the first person to admit that.

The first thing that she did was clean the banister and wooden stair well.

Then using a bin liner and a thick towelling sock she started to paint the bannister.

Choosing a black colour for the bannister, it was clear that she wanted the finished look to have a dramatic effect.

Showing her followers and fans her method, the video saw her use the sock to paint the bannister liberally. The the first part of the revamp was striking.

Next up she took to the staircase walls. Here she choose a brilliant white matt finish.

She also painted the hallway radiators black and added a radiator shelf, a mirror.

She added some framed artwork, home accessories and some foliage to finish off the classy look.
