I was ghosted after I told my date the name of my dog – I'm so confused, there’s nothing wrong with it | The Sun

THERE'S loads that can go wrong on a first date, but you wouldn't think the name of your pet would be the deal breaker.

But one man was left totally confused when he was ghosted because of what he called him dog.

The baffled bloke explained on Reddit that he'd already been on a few dates with a woman before finally inviting her over to his house, where she met the pooch.

The 27-year-old was under the impression things were going well, that is until the topic of his dog came up.

He explained: "She came over to my house and met my dog and when I told her his name is David, she looked really disappointed but didn't say anything.

"It's been three days and she isn't responding to my calls or texts.

"Did I really mess up? Should I rename my dog?"

It turns out he named the dog David after his dad because he "thought it would be sweet," but if his date's reaction was anything to go by he might've missed the mark.

Confused as to why she couldn't deal with the normal name, he asked other Reddit users if they had any idea why his date bailed.

Some users were convinced it had nothing to do with the dog's name and she was looking for an excuse to leave.

A second added: "Assuming the reason she doesn't want to continue dating you is because of the dog's name – is that someone you'd really want to be in a relationship with anyways?"

And another said: "Maybe David is the name of her ex-boyfriend."
