A MUM has revealed how she lets her one-year-old son use a stove to cook his own scrambled eggs.
TikTok user @lauralove5514 filmed her toddler making his own breakfast – but admitted she was bracing herself for “hate”.
In her video, which has racked up over 3.3million likes, Laura said: “I’m probably going to get a lot of hate for this but my one and a half year old used the stove for the first time today.
“We’ve been working up to this for quite a while.
“He has been practising using the stove with no heat just to see how he would do.
“After a while I realised he wasn’t touching the pan anymore and he understood that it was hot.”
Laura revealed how she doesn’t feel comfortable with him using the kitchen hob just yet, so lets him use a camping stove.
She explained: “He used a mini breakfast cooker to scramble some eggs.
“He always sees his three-year-old brother use the stove and he gets so upset when I tell him that he can’t.
“Because of that I decided to teach him with the stove off.
“He did so good that I decided he was ready to start on a low heat today.
“He did not touch the pan, he was so cautious and did amazing and you can see in these clips how happy he was that he was able to try.”
Laura confirmed that she was right by his side the entire time to supervise.
Mum-of-two Laura has amassed 1.7 million followers on TikTok thanks to her videos of Carter, three, and Jonah, 18 months, cooking.
Her whole page is dedicated to the young boys cooking up a storm in the family kitchen – despite critics warning it's dangerous.
She also follows the 100-year-old education system of Maria Montessori, giving children the chance to become independent much earlier.
After the video was uploaded it had mixed reviews, with one person praising her for letting her kids have freedom.
One said: “I’m loving these parents teaching their kids independence, very cool.”
However, one slammed the idea, and said: “Why does a 1.5 year old need to use a stove?”
We shared how a mum lets her son, TWO, make his own dinner from scratch – chopping veg & boiling pasta – but insists it’s not dangerous.
