I’ve found a 10p hack to keep pesky limescale out of your washing machine – and it’s so easy | The Sun

WASHING machines have become even more of an essential item to the average home.

With the cost of energy so high we’re using them sparingly.

And whilst our drier can remain out of service till things get better washing machines must hold down the fort.

That’s why washing machine maintenance is even more important.

They’re a nightmare to repair or replace especially leading up to Christmas when our precious coins are being spent elsewhere.

Limescale build up in a washing machine is quite common especially with such hard water in certain parts of the UK.

But in a recent video the account user shared how she gets rid of limescale in the washing machine.

She said: “Throw a lemon in the washing machine and watch all the limescale go away”.

First she grabs a lemon and cuts it in half.

Then she makes small incisions along the segments of the lemons but she still want to keep them lemon all together so she's not cutting all the way through.

Then she puts the cut up lemon in a sock and ties the end of the sock so the lemon stays secure.

The creator says: “Throw this in the washing machine and put it on a normal cycle that you would have done anyways and there you have it.”

Lemons are a great alternative to vinegar and they have a fresher smell.

A bag of lemons only costs 50p so this hack will cost you less than 10p.

The video has now gone viral with over 1.1 million views and viewers were amazed at the affordable hack.
