There are several brands and designers that Kate, Princess of Wales chooses to wear time and time again. But there are very few she shares a likeness with other members of the Royal Family. Aspinal of London, however, a British handbag brand, is not only loved by Kate, but also Queen Consort Camilla, and Zara Tindall, and it seems these royal ladies have ditched the small boxy clutch they used to carry on public engagements, in favour of small, top-handled handbags in recent years.

The royal females used to carry a small clutch bag when out and about at public engagements during the day.

In recent years, however, they appear to have modernised their outfits with a top-handled bag that is so classic in design, it will never go out of fashion.

Kate first carried an Aspinal of London bag back in 2018, and it was the brand’s Midi Mayfair bag which retails for £595.

The bag is currently available in 17 different colourways and patterns, but Kate has been seen on several occasions in both black and lilac croc.

The Midi Mayfair is “iconic” to the brand and “offers refined vintage styling with a contemporary flair, perfect for transitioning from weekday meetings to evening events”.

It is handcrafted from the finest full-grain leather, and the top hand design features the brand’s “recognisable signature shield lock synonymous with this memorable collection”.

Inside is a “luxurious grosgrain lining with a central zipped compartment and open pockets to either side”.

The bag can be carried by the top handle or worn across the body using the detachable chain strap. Kate prefers to use the top handle to carry the bag.

She has worn the black version on five occasions since its debut in 2018.

In the same year, she stepped out carrying the lilac handbag when attending the Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit in a purple dress.

In March 2019 when attending The Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre, she accessorised a purple satin pussy-bow blouse and black trousers with a lilac handbag.

The Princess of Wales also owns Aspinal’s Beulah Blue Heart Clutch in black croc which was a collaboration between a charity and the handbag brand. Kate wore this clutch bag in March 2017 for a service at Westminster Abbey.

Queen Consort Camilla also has an Aspinal handbag in her personal collection; a larger and older style of the Portobello Bag.

The brand currently sells a smaller version, that is slightly different to Camilla’s, nevertheless, it has the same design features.

The newer version can be purchased for £395, so it can be presumed Camilla’s larger version is more expensive.

The bag is an “elevated take on the classic saddle bag” and comes with an adjustable crossbody strap to achieve “an effortless hands-free look”.

Zara Tindall, on the other hand, owns Kate’s Midi Mayfair bag in two colours, burgundy and forest green. She also has a burgundy version of Camilla’s Portobello bag.

Zara has worn her three Aspinal of London bags when attending Cheltenham Racecourse on different occasions over the years.

Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton is also a fan of the brand, she was pictured attending Wimbledon in 2017 with the newer version of the Portobello cross-body bag.
