Kate Middleton 'always beats' Prince William at tennis, according to sporting ace

IT IS well known that KATE Middleton is an avid tennis fan – she's the royal patron of Wimbledon and arranged for Prince George to have lessons with champion Roger Federer.

Now, a former legendary player has revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge "always beats" husband Prince William at a game.

According to Australian former world number one Rod Laver – who sat with the couple in the Royal Box at Wimbledon last year -the royal couple frequently go head-to-head on court.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the ex-tennis ace, 81, said: "I’d met William and Kate a few times, and in the Royal Box you get a chance to chat with them a little bit."

"They play tennis against each other. William told me he couldn’t beat her."

The Duke, 37, and Duchess, 38, are famously competitive at sport.

During a royal tour of Poland and Germany in 2017 she joked to her crew: "No pressure, but I do want to beat my husband."

With regards to improving her tennis skills, Kate has been having lessons to brush up on her serve – just like her six-year-old son – at the Hurlingham Club.

It comes as the Duchess revealed her eldest child had been receiving tips from the Swiss pro.

According to Wimbledon Morning Coffee, the royal mum-of-three made the revelation in a conversation with current UK player Katie Boulter and retired Brit star Anne Keothavong while attending the championships last year.

Roger and his wife Mirka are understood to be friends with the Cambridges.

The pair attended Pippa Middleton's wedding to James Matthews in May 2017.

That same year, Kate revealed her desire to teach son George how to play tennis.

She asked Lawn Tennis Association coach Sam Richardson for tips at an engagement at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

He later said: “She says with George just being four he wants to whack a ball so she was asking what sort of stuff should she be doing."
